We New Zealanders (or Kiwis as we're known on some of the World's greatest sporting stages) we're full of amazing Sports stories of how, as an Underdog, we keep producing, punching, and performing well above and beyond what anyone expected...
Why is that?
Yes, the Athlete needs to perform and if they're successful and perform amazingly well and even win well, the spotlight shines brightly on them and the athlete gets the Headline and that's awesome!
But what about all the people behind the Athlete, the hours of Sacrifices and the stories untold of that journey?
We (Craig and Kelly) aren't famous New Zealanders (YET) but we're family, and we wanted to create a His and Hers Perspective for the Podcast world, and tell stories from the amazing people we currently know (or will have the privilege to meet on this journey...)
We'll tell the stories of everyday people who give their time, energy, and passion to keep sport alive and together well try and answer an important question: is that just the Kiwi way?
Whether you're involved in grassroots sport or the elite level, this podcast is about the communities, the people, the challenges, and the ideas shaping the future of sport. We're both parents who've each had our own sporting journey, bringing more than 40 years of combined experience playing, volunteering, officiating, and coaching across all ages and levels.
Together, we'll share inspiring stories, explore the highs and lows of sport, have a a lot of fun along the way through conversations with players, parents, coaches, officials, volunteers, and the people who keep sport alive because behind every team, every club, and every competition people are making sacrifices that often go unseen.
Because Every game has a scoreboard, but every sport has a story.
Welcome to Sidelines & Sacrifices.
