Audio Archive - Don Byas
Hosted by Glen and Eddie. Don Byas was an American tenor saxophonist associated with the swing and bebop jazz styles. He was largely forgotten in the USA after WWII due to his living in Europe for nearly 30 years after touring with the first civilian jazz big band to tour there. In this show we present a selection of standards and several of his own compositions. Listen for yourself and you will realise that even though his name is not as large as many of his colleagues his skill and tone puts him at the same level as the other great jazzmen of his era.
